About the ARMONIA Project

ARMONIA is an Erasmus+ initiative designed to harmonise and modernise the Libyan higher education system by introducing practical Bologna Process tools at national and institutional levels. The project supports comparability, transparency, recognition, and stronger quality assurance across universities.

Misurata University contributes to institutional analysis, awareness raising, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance development, and dissemination of Bologna Process knowledge across faculties, centres, and administrative units.

Academic and administrative engagement

University representatives participated in project meetings and training activities in Rome, Pavia, Tripoli, Istanbul, and Misurata, ensuring that lessons learned are transferred to the local institutional context.

The university is working to translate project outcomes into practical institutional steps, including Bologna/ECTS coordination, better monitoring tools, and stronger internal quality practices.

Timeline of university participation

This timeline highlights major ARMONIA activities connected to Misurata University’s participation and the wider reform agenda for higher education in Libya.

24–25 June 2024

Kick-off meeting in Rome

Partners discussed project governance, work packages, strategic priorities, and European experience in implementing Bologna Process tools.

26–27 June 2024

Field visit to the University of Pavia

Libyan partners explored internationalisation, student services, mobility, quality assurance, qualification frameworks, and benchmarking practices.

10–11 July 2024

Focus group in Tripoli

Sessions addressed quality assurance challenges, ECTS versus the unit system, credit recognition, student-centred learning, and the development of a Bologna Process Unit.

05–08 May 2025

Training week in Istanbul

The training focused on ECTS, Diploma Supplement, learning agreements, lesson planning, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and quality assurance in academic programmes.

27 October 2025

Misurata University SWOT workshop

A university-level session engaged academic leaders, quality officers, administrative staff, and student representatives to assess readiness for Bologna Process alignment.

Institutional outputs

The university-level analysis focused on quality assurance, credit recognition and mobility, and student-centred learning. The results indicate strong institutional willingness, while confirming the need for standardised policies and operational tools.
